Community Care

The Community Care Program is a sub group of the P&C and is coordinated and run by volunteer parents. It started at Seven Hills State School in 2008 to help maintain the strong sense of belonging and shared responsibility of raising children that already existed.

'The Seven Hills State School community validates and promotes the shared experience of raising healthy, happy children. Together we aim to value, respect and care for each other knowing that a supported network of families and teachers offers a unique, enriching environment for the development of children.'

Our three aims are to:

  1. Provide care and support to our families and teaching staff.
  2. Celebrate and acknowledge achievements.
  3. Strengthen and build our community.

Each class has a community care representative (parent volunteer) who is the contact person for the families and the teachers of that class. The class reps also meet as a group to plan whole school activities and programs. Some of the things that Community Care does are:

  • Organise a Staff lunch once per term.
  • Help coordinate Grandparent’s Day and find ways to include grandparents and granfriends in our school community.
  • Provide meals to families who may be in need (this is class based).
  • Assist class teachers to rally extra support from the parent group to help with class based activities.
  • Communicate to families what’s happening in the classroom and to acknowledge achievements.

The program is growing all the time and is helping to maximise the wonderful assets that the school has – its teachers, families, children, and the connections with our community. We want children to leave Seven Hills School with a wonderful sense of what it is like to be a part of a vibrant, inclusive, caring community.
